Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is administered inside a treatment chamber that provides the patient with 100% oxygen at a high atmospheric pressure. During treatment you can relax by sleeping, listening to music, or watching your favorite show on Netflix. As the chamber is gradually pressurized, you may feel a “fullness” in the ears like the experience when diving under water or flying in an airplane. The trained technician can assist in helping you to overcome this temporary sensation.
Each treatment usually lasts about 90 minutes. It is recommended to receive one treatment a day, Monday to Friday. The physician on staff will instruct you on the amount of treatment that is required. The HBO therapy is different for each patient, depending on the patient’s condition and the response to therapy and also most HBO patients receive between 40 to 60 treatments (Dives).
